Allison Leotta

Novelist and Former Federal Sex-crimes Prosecutor

For twelve years, Allison Leotta served as a federal prosecutor in Washington, DC, where she specialized in sex crimes, domestic violence, and crimes against children. Leotta now writes legal thrillers drawing on her experience.

Leotta was dubbed “the female John Grisham” for her first novel, Law of Attraction, which the Washington Post called, “a racy legal thriller…taking on a still-taboo subject.” Her second novel, Discretion, was named one of the Ten Best Books of 2012 by Strand Magazine and nominated for Best Book of the Year by Romance Reviews Today. Simon & Schuster /Touchstone will release her third novel, Speak of the Devil, this August.

Leotta is a weekly contributor to the Huffington Post, where she reality-checks TV crime dramas. Her blog, The Prime Time Crime Review, was named one of the best legal blogs in America by the ABA, for the last three years.

Leotta has provided legal commentary for outlets such as CNN Live, MSNBC’s The Cycle, the PBS NewsHour, HuffPost Live, and Reuters TV.

Leotta is a graduate of Michigan State University and Harvard Law School. She lives outside of Washington, DC, with her husband, Michael Leotta, and their two sons. Leotta recently signed another two-book deal with S&S/Touchstone, and is hard at work on her fourth and fifth books.
