Angela Santomero

American television executive producer and co-creator of the long-running Nickelodeon children's television program Blue's Clues

Angela Santomero is the brains behind the most breakthrough preschool television programs to date and brings her unique perspective of show creator, researcher, writer, and the mother of two daughters.

Angela made an indelible mark in preschool education and media fresh out of Columbia University, where she earned a Masters in Child Developmental Psychology from Teachers College. Angela's vision for integrating educational curriculum into entertaining television for kids led her to co-create, executive produce and head write Nick Jr.'s landmark series, Blue's Clues. Angela's vision that preschoolers will “interact” with television content if given a chance to play along forever changed the way preschoolers watch TV. Blue's Clues, described by author Malcolm Gladwell as “Perhaps the stickiest show ever created” in his bestseller, The Tipping Point, was the first truly interactive preschool series that presented kids with a kindergarten readiness curriculum in which they can play and learn along with the show. Research conducted by The University of Alabama concluded that preschoolers who watched Blue's Clues were smarter and scored better on standardized tests, than those who didn't watch Blue's Clues. Angela also led the production, development, and writing of the Emmy-nominated series, as well as a full-length feature and children's books for Simon & Schuster. In addition, she wrote two theatrical productions which played at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and venues across the nation. Angela is also the Creator, Executive Producer, and Writer for the award winning Super WHY!, the first preschool property for PBS Kids, which was proven by the University of Pennsylvania at Annenburg to build literacy skills through its groundbreaking approach. Super WHY! received a prestigious Ready to Learn Grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the U.S. Department of Education, as well as numerous Emmy nominations, and Parent's Choice awards.

She is also the Creator, Executive Producer, and Writer for Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (Season 3 is currently in production, about to embark on Season 4) which has earned numerous Emmy Nominations, a TCA award, gold Parent's Choice Awards, and a Kid-screen award. Daniel has received critical acclaim with its high ratings among moms and preschoolers and is the highest streamed show on PBS Kids, reaching 40 million views a month. Angela has also written numerous Daniel Tiger children's books for Simon & Schuster, and has created two hit shows for Amazon Kids: Creative Galaxy (Season 3 currently in production) and Wishenpoof (Season 2 currently in production), which has also earned both Emmy nominations and Parents Choice Awards.

Angela's accomplishments in the world of children's television have landed her on Broadcasting & Cable's Next Wave of Women list, as well as speaking engagements at EVOO, Mom 2.0, BlogHer, Kidscreen, and media appearances on NBC's Today Show, the Rosie O'Donnell Show, CNN, Fox Business News, and on numerous podcasts including Nickelodeon Animation, NPR's Diane Rehm's, The Moms, and Tilt. Angela has been the host of a series of parenting specials for PBS's IQ Smart Parent; The Parent Show, and writes on media and parenting for her own website blog, Angela's Clues.
