Joshua Graham

Bestselling Author and Former Musician

Joshua Graham is an award-winning novelist who has written thrilling suspense and fantasy novels and inspirational short stories. His novel, Beyond Justice, won a 2011 International Book Award in the mystery and suspense category. It is an Amazon and Barnes & Noble #1 bestseller in multiple categories. Writing under the pen name, Ian Alexander, in 2011 he released his first epic fantasy novel, Once We Were Kings. The book topped several Amazon.com bestseller list in multiple categories and was a finalist in the “SciFi/Fantasy” category of the USA “Best Books 2011” Awards. His latest book is Darkroom, winner of the Forward National Literature award.

Growing up in New York, Graham spent most of his first 35 years in Brooklyn and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the highly-acclaimed Julliard School of music, dance and drama. He later earned his doctorate in performance and cello from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. While in Maryland, he also served as a music professor at Shepherd College (now a university) in Shepherdstown, West Virginia; Western Maryland College in Westminster; and Columbia Union College in Tacoma Park, Maryland.

At one time a cello soloist with orchestras in Egypt, South Africa, Canada, Israel, Jordan and the United States, after marrying, Graham switched to the growing field of information technology. At the same time he pursued his love of writing in his spare hours—a decision that would be tested to extremes after his entire department was outsourced in 2008.

“I felt like Abraham being called out of the land of his fathers to embark on a journey into writing,” Graham says. “Less than a year after I lost my job, sold my house and downsized so I could become a full time author, my debut novel (Beyond Justice) hit multiple bestseller lists and won the International Book Award.”

Graham hosts an internet radio show with Susan author Wingate called Dialogue: Between the Lines on which he has interviewed authors such as Steve Berry, Lincoln Child, Jerry Jenkins, David Farland, Frank Peretti, among others.

Graham now resides in Southern California with his wife and their two children. Graham’s family attends The City Church, where they serve as home group leaders.
