K. M. Walton is the award-winning author of Cracked (Simon Pulse ~ Simon & Schuster 2012), Empty (Simon Pulse ~ Simon & Schuster 2013), and the co-author of Teaching Numeracy: 9 Critical Habits to Ignite Mathematical Thinking (Corwin Press 2011) for mathematics teachers K - 8. Her contemporary Young Adult novels each focus on the hideous effects of bullying. Walton specializes in speaking to schools and Universities on the topic of “The Power of Human Kindness.” K. M. is a graduate of West Chester University, with a degree in elementary education. As a former middle-school language-arts teacher she's passionate about education and ending peer bullying. During her time in the classroom she developed proven ways to stop bullying. She is also the former director/owner of the summer day camp, Camp Kindness. Basically, teaching about kindness, empathy, and tolerance has been a life-long passion for her.

K.M. Walton has been a keynote or other major speaker at: West Chester University, Pennsylvania Writing and Literacy Project, Widener University, Delaware County Reading Council, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Temple University as well as many middle schools and high schools.

Walton uses her twelve years as a teacher, ten years of experience as a public speaker, and her infectious passion to leave audiences inspired and motivated to help change the world. Her speaking platform focuses on seizing and creating ways to bring empathy, kindness, and compassion to the forefront. She has been called: captivating, inspiring, real.

Her debut novel, Cracked, was an ALA Quick Picks Nominee. It made both the 2013 ILA Young Adults' Choices list and the Keystone to Reading Book Award Master List (PA).

In addition to her speaking, Walton has led many powerful writing workshops for children (grades 3 – 12) and adults.

K. M. is a seasoned educator who spent twelve years in the classroom using well-researched and cutting edge teaching practices that made her students want to write. Her highly active writing workshops hold that same passion and power.
