Robert K. Tanenbaum is a nationally known attorney, high profile defender and legal expert. Tanenbaum is considered one of the most successful prosecuting attorneys, having never lost a felony trial. He has served as the Assistant D.A. in New York County, where he ran the Homicide Bureau, served as Chief of the
Criminal Courts and was in charge of the D.A.’s legal staff training program. He also served as Deputy Chief Counsel to the Congressional Committee Investigation into the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. He is a much sought after media guest and is regularly seen on television shows as a legal expert and commentator. Additionally, Tanenbaum has served two terms as Mayor of Beverly Hills.

Tanenbaum is the author of 29 books – 26 novels and three non-fiction books: The Piano Teacher – The True Story of a Psychotic Killer; Badge of the Assassin, the true account of his investigation and trials of self-proclaimed members of the Black Liberation Army who assassinated two NYPD police officers, Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini – later adapted into a movie starring James Woods as Tanenbaum; and Echoes of My Soul, his signature masterpiece, the true story of one of the most intense manhunts in police history … and of the young District Attorney who exonerated the unjustly accused, brought the killer/rapist to justice and reformed forever law enforcement practices – published in May 2013 by Kensington Books. Publishers Weekly selected Echoes of My Soul as the “pick of the week” in its April 22, 2013 edition.

His latest novel Fatal Conceit, a murder mystery focusing on the deadly effects that result from weak character and unbridled ambition intertwined with shocking tempestuous deception, was published on August 12, 2014 by Simon and Schuster/Gallery Books.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Robert Tanenbaum attended the University of California at Berkeley on a basketball scholarship where he earned a B.A. He received his law degree (J.D.) from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.
