Dean has worked as a writer for the New York Sun and the Tennessean and as a production coordinator in the television and film industries for more than ten years. He has held positions with MTV Networks, Warner Bros., and Buena Vista Television and has worked with such artists as Spike Lee, Anjelica Houston, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Rob Reiner. He is the founder of Men's Empowerment, Inc, an organization dedicated to self-empowering men of color. Dean is also a 2005 John Seigenthaler Journalism Fellow from Vanderbilt University.
