Tyler Colman
Author of 'Dr. Vino' Blog, Wine Expert
Tyler Colman teaches, talks and writes about wine. Whether you can only tell white from red or even if you know your Pouilly-Fuissé from your Pouilly-Fumé, Colman can enliven and educate your group. He has helped summer associates at law firms learn how to navigate a wine list without fear, young alumni find excellent wine bargains, and other groups see how their blind wine picks stack up against the critics.
Colman teaches wine classes in the food and wine program at New York University with the James Beard Foundation as well as at the University of Chicago. His wine writing appears daily on his award-winning blog, Dr. Vino, named a top wine blog by Food & Wine and Fast Company magazines. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Food & Wine, Wine & Spirits, and Trump magazine. He is the author of the widely praised Wine Politics: How Governments, Environmentalists, Mobsters, and Critics Influence the Wines We Drink (University of California Press, 2008) and the practical guide, A Year of Wine: Perfect Pairings, Great Guys, and What to Sip for Each Season (Simon & Schuster, 2008).
Some successful themes:
• Wine emergency! How to navigate a wine list with confidence
• Seven wines that are easy on the palate and on the wallet
• Bubbles that pop (sparkling wine picks for all budgets)
• Liquid assets: developing a cellar and how to drink fine wine for free
• Dynamic duos: comparing four pairs of wines that are hot today
• Red, white, and green: blind tasting of organic vs conventional wines
